SP| Dr. Wu says "Own your Position" - Terminal Hip Extension
I’m back with my favorite hurdler Jon McDowell to talk about the importance of owning your terminal hip extension and why it’s so important, especially in sprinting. Using JMac’s nifty Athos compression shorts with sensors we can actively see how well he is able to turn his glutes and hamstrings on. Being able to fully activate these muscles is the only way to properly own your terminal hip extension. If you are not able to do that your body will compensate and use other muscles to try to get you into the proper position – this ultimately leads to pain and injury.
