SP | Dr. Wu talks about Lat Engagement
I got together with Coach Colin from CrossFit Bovine and we talked about the importance of engaging the lat muscles, especially when working on Chest to Bar pull-ups (hello, 16.1!).
The lat (latissimus dorsi) is a very large muscle that originates from the spine, wraps around the body under the armpit and attaches to the front of your glenohumeral joint. It is a very important muscle because it stabilizes the scapula and without that stabilization your glenohumeral joint goes rogue, leading to all sorts of issues.
Properly engaging the lat leads to better positioning, more efficient movement and faster times on WODs. Own your position, own your movement and move free.
