Acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as qi or chi (CHEE) — believed to flow through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance.
Acupuncture points can stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. This can boost your body's natural painkillers and increases blood flow.
Dry Needling is a general term for a therapeutic treatment procedure that involves multiple advances of a very thin needle into the muscle in the area of the body which produces pain and typically contains a ‘Trigger Point’. Positive results are apparent within 2-4 treatment sessions but can vary depending on the cause and duration of the symptoms, overall health of the athlete. Dry needling is an effective treatment for acute and chronic pain, rehabilitation from injury, and even pain and injury prevention, with very few side effects.
At the sports pod we have analyzed several soft tissue management such as Active Release Therapy, Fascial Distortion model, Fascial Stretch Therapy, Functional Release and general massage techniques creating a comprehensive system of soft tissue assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation that was designed to ensure the highest quality athlete care. Using these techniques to improve the quality of an athlete’s movement, as well as to promote joint health and longevity.
The ACL screening is designed to evaluate an athlete’s overall risk for knee injury. This process examines athletic movement that is required for elite level performance. Through experience and research, The Sports Pod has found that imbalances and weaknesses are often key predictors to catastrophic knee injuries. By putting your athlete through our patented Sports Pod assessment our Movements Specialist will be able to help provide strategies to bulletproof your athlete’s knee.
Our Movement Coaches educate a select group of girls and boys, who aspire to be well-rounded athletes, with the main focus on entering a collegiate program in their future. The performance program draws from disciplines such as gymnastics, strength and conditioning, track and field, and Olympic lifting. We have refined the process to incorporate these elements into sport specific exercises, creating a gritty athlete ready for a Division 1 Collegiate program.
