Dry Needling is a general term for a therapeutic treatment procedure that involves multiple advances of a very thin needle into the muscle in the area of the body which produces pain and typically contains a ‘Trigger Point’. Positive results are apparent within 2-4 treatment sessions, but can vary depending on the cause and duration of the symptoms, and overall health of the athlete. Dry needling is an effective treatment for acute and chronic pain, rehabilitation from injury, and even pain and injury prevention, with very few side effects.
At The Sports Pod, we have analyzed several soft tissue management methods such as Active Release Therapy, Fascial Distortion Model, Fascial Stretch Therapy, Functional Release and general massage techniques. The ACL Screening is designed to evaluate an athlete’s overall risk for knee injury. This process examines athletic movement that is required for elite level performance. Through experience and research, The Sports Pod has found that imbalances and weaknesses are often key predictors to catastrophic knee injuries. By performing The Sports Pod's patented assessment, our Movement Specialists will be able to help provide strategies to bulletproof the athlete’s knees.
Our Movement Coaches educate a select group of girls and boys, who aspire to be well-rounded athletes, with the main focus on entering a collegiate program in their future. The Performance Program draws from disciplines such as gymnastics, strength and conditioning, track and field, and Olympic lifting. We have refined the process to incorporate these elements into sport-specific exercises, creating a gritty athlete ready for a Division 1 Collegiate program.
Mobility Flow combines concepts from both yoga and functional movement to create a fluid practice designed to bring awareness to your movement patterns and deficiencies. We will explore strength and control through end ranges of motion, allowing more space and freedom of movement in the body. This practice will challenge your balance, build strength, expand your ranges of motion, and teach you how to move in new, more efficient ways. Come prepared to work!
